DESCRIPTION
If you’re looking for a vacation with Carnival Cruise Lines, you’ve come to the wrong place. But if you’re ready to face the terrors of the deep (literally and metaphorically), welcome aboard!
The Pequod is getting ready to sail! So pack your duffle bag and get ready to ship out!
We are meeting bi-weekly for reading and discussion: Tuesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30 pm Eastern time. The first meeting will be Tuesday, June 6, which should give people enough time to join, buy books, and start reading. Figure about 50 pages per meeting (we’ll set up a reading schedule).
Please be sure to get the Northwestern-Newberry edition of Moby-Dick. Several publishers offer that edition. I would suggest the Penguin Classics Moby-Dick with an introduction by Andrew Delbanco. It is reasonably priced on Amazon at $11.99 with cheaper used copies. (It seems easier to google “Moby-Dick Penguin Classics” and then click on the Amazon link rather than searching the title on the Amazon website).
See you on the high seas!

Facilitator: Alan Seltzer holds a Master of Arts degree in English from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and taught high school English for twenty-five years. Most recently, he taught in the writing program at LaSalle University in Philadelphia.
